Facilities Task Force Updates

Getting closer!

Enjoying Easter worship in our bright newly remodeled sanctuary was truly a treat!  The pews (and some chairs) are reupholstered, the walls painted, new carpet laid, the front platform updated with wood,  new technology fully functioning and the addition of a beautiful  Grand Piano.

There are still projects in the works including the design and construction of the cross, altar, pulpit and baptismal font, (slated to be done this summer/fall), but we are well on our way to finishing the Phase 1 projects that PLC Congregation approved last fall.  Take a peek at some pictures of our sanctuary this Easter… or better yet, join us for worship to experience it yourself.  Thank you for all your patience during our remodel process.  We hope it was worth the wait!

Great News! Fifth Quarter Update!

Thanks everyone for all that you have done to help us move toward our Fifth Quarter Goal.  We are almost there.  Only 10K to go! YAY!

Beginning soon, we will start the transformation of the sanctuary with carpeting, reupholstering, etc.  We will have to live with some chaos for a while but the rewards will be worth it.  The Facilities Task Force is meeting the week of January 16th and will be creating a timeline for the implementation of our new look.  Let’s keep working to gain the 10K and get this all done!  We can do this!

Facilities Task Force Update – Check Out Our Progress!

The Facilities Task Force has been meeting and is working hard to make sure renovations continue to progress in our Phase 1 project.  Although we were hoping to accomplish most of these things by Christmas, we have had to adjust our goal to Easter since there are lead times that will not accommodate the Christmas goal.  However, the following is scheduled to be finished before Christmas.

  • Video System – Scheduled to be installed the first week of December
  • Bladder Roof under Warranty – was fixed and reinstalled last week
  • Shingled Roof/Venting of Sanctuary Roof & Flat Roof Repair – scheduled for late Nov or early Dec
  • Youth Room – almost completed with the help of all our Youth and some adults :)

EXCITING  Updates from Facilities Task Force!

On Sunday, September 25, the congregation voted to adopt the Phase 1 Projects designated by the Council and Facilities Task Force.  This includes roofing repairs, audio/visual upgrades, lighting improvements, grand piano, new flooring in the sanctuary, new chairs, re-upholstered pews, new chancel furnishings, coffee/fellowship area upgrades and a few other short term improvements.  The total cost of Phase 1 is projected at $258,000.  So far, $199,000 has been raised for this Phase 1 Project. A Fifth Quarter Capital Campaign—asking people to celebrate all that God is doing in our midst with one more quarter of giving, was kicked off the weekend of October 1/2. Join in and share what you can!

Update from Alan Rutkowski, FTF co-chair

Our recent congregational survey helped sharpen the focus of the Facilities Task Force to concentrate on our current site, and we have continued to make progress on the plans to upgrade our present building, utilities, and support equipment.

A two pronged approach is being proposed which consists of completing a short list of projects which can have an immediate positive impact on PLC’s ministries, while the long range master plan continues to be developed.   The details of this approach will be shared at a congregational meeting to be held on Sunday, September 25th after the 9:00 am service.  Please attend to hear about and provide feedback on the latest plans.

Survey Results

Our survey results are in! Click on the link for info from our Facilities Task Force.

The task force received well over 150 survey responses, many of which included thoughtful and detailed comments. Thank you for your support of this process!

The results revealed a clear congregational preference for which option should be investigated by the FTF.  Option A (limited remodel within the building footprint) was preferred over option B, which was preferred over option C.  In addition, those who preferred option A felt much more strongly about their position than those who supported options B or C.

The next steps for the task force include working to more clearly define option A and identifying architects who could develop concept drawings for a remodeling project at Peace.  Ultimately, the task force will prepare a detailed remodeling proposal for the council and congregation to review.  The church will decide at that time whether to proceed with the remodeling proposal, revise the proposal to change the scope of the project, or abandon the project with no changes to the building.

Again, thanks to the congregation for their interest and support!
